All of our Authentic Alberta Ammolite Freeform gemstones are meticulously hand polished to a brilliant shine with no coating! Each gemstone comes with its own Certificate of Authentication and detailed list of specifications.
Ammolite forms naturally on a stone matrix. When this original matrix remains intact, the gemstone is classified as a Natural.
In some cases, the Ammolite layer has a weak or compromised matrix that cannot provide adequate structural support on its own. When this occurs, the original backing is removed and replaced with a new natural stone backing this is a true Doublet in the strict gemological sense.
Gemstones strong enough to stand entirely on their own, with no backing at all, are exceptionally rare and are classified as Imperial grade.
All of our Ammolite is vacuum-stabilized, a process in which epoxy resin is forced into the gem material to reinforce it for cutting and everyday wear. This is a structural treatment only it does not alter color or clarity and all surface resin is fully polished away before the gemstone leaves our hands.
